Phillip C. Reinke, Founder and President of the Continuous Improvement Institute, Author, Professor, 2011-2012 Educator of the Year

After 30 years of successful organizational transformation from “ground up” and performance improvement in Fortune 100 companies such as General Electric, First Data Corporation, Western Union, BankOne/First of Chicago, National City Bank and Washington Post/Kaplan Higher Education, Phil set out to share his experience with a broader audience of companies that could not afford to fully deploy the highly demanded and much needed, Six Sigma culture.

Over the course of 15 years, he developed and refined the next generation of organizational improvement methodologies which he called “DMADD.”DMADD stands for Define/Measure/Analyze/Develop/Deliver and it is quickly being recognized as the Six Sigma of the 21st Century.  To support his methodology, he established The Continuous Improvement Institute in 2009 and became a “SBG Best-selling” author with books like “The New Brass Ring – Process Improvement for the 21st Century”.  His organization, along with his books is staged to bring organizations large and small into the 21st century.  He has also published “My Mentor-Direction to 21st Century Leadership.”  This book has been called the “Success book of the 21st century” helping not only organizational leaders, but anyone who has higher aspirations.

Phil is one of GE’s original 30, Six Sigma Master Blackbelts.  He specifically led the transformation of GE Capital division, which to this day, is recognized as the pinnacle of process improvement deployments.  Following GE, He moved to CSX Transportation (one of the major railroads) and successfully deployed an organization-wide Six Sigma Program.  Moving to First Data Corporation he deployed Six Sigma across many of their organizations.  He challenged himself to deploy Process Improvement in areas that have never attempted it before, such as Sales and Marketing.  As a result of the improvement efforts, First Data was positioned for “privatization” by KKR.  During that time, he also deployed Six Sigma in Western Union, successfully addressing a significant risk with money and wire fraud.  The effort saved literally millions of dollars monthly!  He also was part of the team that positioned Western Union for a “spin-off” from First Data Corporation and successfully participated in its return as a publicly traded corporation on the NYSE.  From there he moved to Kaplan Higher Education and worked to deploy a process Improvement program in an arena never before attempted, academics.  In his first year, he and his team generated more than $40 million in bottom line savings.
